Access to Healthcare

Sembcorp provides access to healthcare in the communities it operates

Case Study

Sembcorp endeavours to bring quality healthcare closer and accessible to local communities in areas where it operates. Effort to improve the quality of life and providing access to better public healthcare is at the heart of Sembcorp’s community engagements. Sembcorp’s initiatives around healthcare and well-being are improving the quality of life of the communities in and around its operational areas.

Sembcorp’s healthcare initiatives like periodic health camps, awareness drives on seasonal diseases, regular doctor visits to local villages and prescribed medicines given at free of cost are providing significant benefits to the communities. These health camps are also helping in screening and referring cases based on criticality, to the government or private hospital, to avail government’s free medical service schemes.

Sembcorp has also formulated an adolescent girl group in local villages to oversee health issues among adolescent girls. ‘Adolescent Training Programme’ were conducted to educate them about female hygiene and nutrition.

At our renewable site in Karnataka, “Mobile Medical Unit” have been deployed to reach out at the doorsteps and deliver primary healthcare to the deserving segment of society in remote areas strengthening the availability of proper medical facilities.

Through these healthcare interventions Sembcorp is not only providing access to healthcare facilities to the local communities where it operates but also contributing towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
